Adding a favicon, or site icon, in WordPress is a relatively simple process that only requires a few steps.
Table of Contents
Appearance
To begin, you’ll need to navigate to the “Appearance” section of your WordPress dashboard and then click on the “Customize” option.
Site Identity
Once you’re in the customizer, you should see a section labeled “Site Identity.” This is where you can change your site’s favicon.
Select File
Simply click on the “Select File” button and upload the image you want to use as your favicon.
The site icon should be PNG, square, and at least 512 × 512 pixels.
Site Icons are what you see in browser tabs, bookmark bars, and within the WordPress mobile apps. Upload one here!
[bonus] Change Image
If your website already has an image, you can replace it by clicking on “Change image.”
If you do not want a website Favicon, you can click “Remove” to remove the image file.
Publish
Once you’ve selected the image, click on the “Publish” button to save your changes. And that’s all there is to it!
Now, when someone visits your site, they’ll see your custom favicon in their browser’s address bar!
